Crystals
Crystals

Ice crystals sparkle in the cool arctic air,
a blanket of snow lies on the ground everywhere.
The clear blue skies promise a fine day off to a sunny start,
but the bare branches of the trees reflect the emptiness in my heart.
Though the sun beats down upon me through the south-facing window pane,
I only feel the shadows that it casts upon my face.
For I know that I will never see my true love again,
and not even the rays of the sun can melt my glacier blue pain.
