Garden Greenery
Green

I was born on a very famous day,
the day that they took the Twin Towers away,
but I had no idea that such all-encompassing hate,
would encircle my life and become my own fate.

Do not mourn for me,
I am in a peaceful place,
please tell my mommy and daddy,
that it is so pretty here, just like me.

But I do have these last words to say,
with love for all, from my very small grave,
that people do not have to live in such hate,
the way is so easy, love is all that it takes.

Note:  This poem was written for Christina Taylor Green, a sweet and beautiful nine-year old girl who was born on such a devastating day, Sept. 11, 2001, and lost her life in the shootings in Tucson, Arizona on January 8, 2011.  I believe she sent the words to me.  If you know her parents, please tell them of her poem.   Her only wish is that the violence and the hate abate, and that her mommy and daddy find consolation in knowing that her little soul places a face on such an important issue on this earth.
