Kneeling Cherub
Life

We all must do the things that we do,
what is right for me may not be right for you,
this is the story of a brave lady so full of love,
that she turned the tide against a tug-of-war.

To save her life, she’d been rushed to ER, pumped full of drugs,
but the plot thickens, as she was also several weeks pregnant.
The doctor recommended that she should abort,
according to the law, there was still time for that to work.

He wasn’t her doctor,
he’d never seen her before,
was that the reason,
he could be so calloused and cold?

While a priest was called to try and console her,
his empathy for the doctor only surprised her,
but when her doctor for years came through the door,
he knew just what was right for his dear old friend’s soul.

Without concern, she carried her son to full-term,
but to deliver him a ‘c-section’ was called for,
and you won’t believe who was called to assist,
but the doctor who had advised originally against this?

She bit her own tongue so that she would not scream,
“I told you my son was not an option, you creep.”
She had a boy, healthy and strong,
and that doctor could see that his advice had been wrong.

Life isn’t easy, and we all struggle the best that we can.
When this one lady was faced with her unborn son’s fate in her hands,
she never had to think about what to do twice,
she breathed deeply with love, and then she chose life.

Note: I write on many topics of life and love, with the hope that we understand each other’s struggles with more compassion.  The girl in this story felt strongly that her story should be told, to offer the viewpoint of one making such a decision.  The decision to end a life is the most serious decision anyone can ever make, to punish a criminal, commit suicide, decide end of life issues, end a pregnancy.  I offer my solace to those souls on both sides of this issue.  In this case, aborting a life, my heart goes out to those who struggle with grief and doubt because they gave up their child’s life, and to those who wonder if their decision to have their child ruined both of their lives.  Life is not easy, my friends, stay “in the love”, and do the best that you can.
