Antique Lace
Lace Poemettes

. . . on the left:

My lace pattern is dainty; a fine filigree,
as delicate as any lace could ever hope it could be,
and far too pretty to fold or to make a crease,
or for a single tear to ever drop down on me.

. . . on the right:

I dedicate my lace portrait to my poet’s polar garden,
whose peonies’ soft petals adorn every corner,
and as a way to remember that stellar garden forever,
its dancing Forget-Me-Nots are woven into my lovely border.

Note:  these tiny poems (poemettes) were written to go with the antique lace handkerchiefs shown above that I plan to frame as the true artwork that they are, by artists unknown.  They whispered to me and begged me to create poetry to place in the middle of their plain fabric centers when they are displayed in their new frame & glass homes.  I discussed their wishes with Carmel when I showed her these lacey beauties, and she agreed, so I obliged those pretty hankies and wrote a poemette for each of them, from their point of view.  Soon, they will hang together to brighten a lonesome little wall.
